Making Plans

So, we've all been told it's good to make plans and goals and to shoot for something. Cody and I have been feeling a tad lost as to what we are doing and were we are going. Although, I will say that since Cody has switched to Illustration I actually feel more at peace. But we still feel like there is more guidance waiting for us. And it just so happened that in the Friend magazine a few months back (at a particularly trying time) we read a story about a boy who lost a coin in the grass and couldn't find it. His mother had taught him about praying with a plan (think of the bother of Jared and the 16 stones (Ether 2: 22-25 and Ether 3: 1, 4-6)) anyways so the boy made a plan of how to find the coin and then prayed that the Lord would help him find it...and he did!
That same week we read that article we also learned about the Brother of Jared in Sunday School (before we were called to teach Sunbeams) This isn't going to be like a Ensign article. But we did talk about what we want to happen the rest of school and planned out Cody's school schedule so we had an idea of when he would graduate. Just today I sat down and decided to write down what we had talked about and put it up so we could see it and remember it and refer to it. I thought that maybe if I put it on here it would be more of an incentive to make sure we do it. :) This doesn't include Cody's actual schedule - Just a basic outline of each semester.

Cody's Studio Space

I have to add a little post here about one of the perks of Cody being in the BFA Illustration Program....
THE STUDIO SPACE!
Yes, the studio space has saved not only our marriage...but out lives!
Okay, so I am being dramatic. But seriously, once I learned that Cody was going to get studio space at the beginning of the semester the semester couldn't begin fast enough!
Why is this such a big deal you ask?
This is a glimpse of our bedroom....our BEDROOM mind you, not a third spare room or a studio room or even a closet, our sacred holy love room. Pretty Romantic, huh? Okay, I'll say this, I took this picture after we had already started cleaning stuff out (and you have to make big messes before you can make big clean...it wasn't usually this messy. But you get the idea. No drawers to hide messes, just shelves to throw things on. A Glorified Shelf you could say! No more though. He took all his art supplies to the school and packed up the stuff he didn't throw away and I spent one whole afternoon taking down his desk. And oh my! We have so much SPACE in our room now....and it looks so clean...even when the bed isn't made and there are clothes on the floor! Incredible!
So now and small glimpse of his Studio Space....

And it was so much fun helping set it up.

Five Years

Cody and I celebrated are fifth anniversary at the beginning of May. We were thinking how nice it would be to go stay somewhere just the two of us for a night (something we've never done) We were so lucky to have my parents come down and watch the kids for us. We just stayed in Salt Lake but we really enjoyed ourselves. We got to see the beautiful flowers at temple square and had dinner and went through a session at the temple. I've never been through the Salt Lake Temple so that was definitely a treat for me. It was a little short-lived because of shady stand-by seats on the airlines that my parents had to make sure they got back home to work so we didn't really get to visit my parents. But I am still really grateful they came and it was such a nice experience.
Oh also, I have to share this one story. Our car got broken into at our hotel during the night! Everything from the glove box was thrown all over the seats! and the trunk was a mess. Nothing was stolen. The thief must have been disappointed to find nothing of value in our little ford Taurus! Except the car itself which we are grateful was NOT stolen! :)

Cody picked these wildflowers for me!

Handsome man!

Forget-me-nots!

HAPPY DAY!

CODY GOT ACCEPTED TO THE ANIMATION PROGRAM!

We were going to go camping yesterday but three hours after we planned to leave we left Walmart and are car was acting funny. As we drove down the highway I kept getting more and more anxious so I told Cody maybe we should fix this problem our car has had since we've had it because it was getting worse. Luckily Joseph wasn't too upset. So first thing today Cody started working on the car. What an OX of a husband I HAVE! He got the part that needs replaced out!
Unfortunately the part we bought to replace it ....is not exactly the same. So Cody spent the WHOLE day riding his bike around {It started out with a flat tire he had to fix) trying to get it! He had to order it into a shop and it will be here tomorrow. So after coming home...very exhausted he checked his email {he knew the letter was coming} and say that the letters we ready for pickup. So he rode down immediately to get it. And opened up here at home... and yelled himself hoarse....and made Joseph Cry. ^_^ We are SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO Happy. I've never seen this man work harder on something than he did on his application.

Bouncing Ball

I've finally convinced Cody to allow me to show y'all some of his projects. So here are Cody's first two animations!!!! Hopefully of many more! ^_^

This was for his bouncing ball project.
He used a program called Flipbook. He drew each frame and then took pictures of them, then the program is sped up to show the animation.
What do ya think?
I was so proud of him!
